From their Instagram post:

Last year, more than 1,200 people showed up on day one alone. Nearly 20,000 plants found new homes across Rhode Island. This year, we’re doing it again, and we want you there!

Thousands of rare and unusual vegetable, herb, annual, and perennial plants will be available, all lovingly grown from seed, with varieties you won’t find at your typical garden center. Plant prices are kept low, and entry is always free. EBT and SNAP benefits accepted.

Live music all weekend from Circle of the Drum, Raffini, Phil Edmonds, Chris Monti, the ‘mericans, Shira and Tabatha Rose, Community Music Works, Jake Haller, 18 Wheeler, and other musical surprises.

As Plant Sale Committee Chair Candace Cooney puts it: “The SCLT Plant Sale is such a special event because it allows people to gather around a common cause and celebrate the kick-off of the gardening season. To me, it serves as a beacon of light in times when the world feels a little dark. This year, people can expect joyous energy, a sense of community, and of course, beautiful plants!”

Staff and volunteers speaking Spanish, French, Swahili, Kirundi, and Hmong will be on hand to welcome everyone.

And after the weekend? Hundreds of plants are donated to local libraries, community centers, gardens, and social service organizations across Rhode Island to keep the love growing, and your plant purchases fuel the SCLT mission.

California has passed the country’s most aggressive housing reform, but production hasn’t followed. A look at what’s stalling delivery, what gubernatorial candidates are proposing to fix it, and what New England can learn from the gap between policy and the built result.

A few of us gathered starting in India Point Park or Warren and biked the beautiful East Bay Bike Path to start the day. There was a nice pit stop for coffee treats at Borealis in Riverside, before heading to work!
