Carlson says pocket neighborhoods and cottage courts are a growing trend throughout the country although still a niche market. “It’s not going to appeal to everybody,” she says. “But it will appeal to people looking to live in a small neighborhood where everyone is watching out for one another.”
Some people may have wanted “a two-car garage and a soaking tub and a walk-in pantry,” but when they see a pocket neighborhood, Carlson says, “all that goes away.” That’s because they’ve found a feeling of community.
